The new Photoshop 2025 update is out along with other Adobe products! Inside we’ll find a lot of life-easing AI tools, including object and people removal, background removal, generative variations and Generative Workspace library, accessible with Photoshop Beta.
With the new Remove tool, you can draw over any object to get it removed with AI(or switch the mode to Generative AI off). While removing objects could be done with the Lasso tool previously, now we can simply use the new Selection brush tool to remove anything in seconds.
Additionally, you can go to the Find Distractions option and select one of the following: Wires and Cables, or People.
By selecting your option, you’ll get a preview highlighted with pink, to specify what objects correspond to the selection and should be removed. Here you can customize your selection by switching to the substruct mode(click Alt) to edit the selection area.
Interestingly, the option of people removing sometimes wouldn’t work unless the person is standing face-to-face with the camera. In this case, you can just use the Remove tool like shown previously.
Now you can remove the background in just one click. You can immediately generate a new background or import a ready one by using the Generate and Import options on the bottom menu.
Here you can also use a Generative Expand tool based on the Firefly model 3, which will help you change the image size.
Adobe promised us that generated outputs would be of a higher quality and would understand more complex descriptions.
Conveniently, you can now generate objects similar to the generations you like. To do this, just click on the 3 dots next to the generate button and select a Generate Similar option.
This new feature is only available via Photoshop Beta which you can access via the Edit tab. Here you can write any prompt and generate the image you want, then open it directly in Photoshop.
While the update isn’t huge and these features are primarily based on AI tools, you can find them incredibly useful for your daily editing tasks. Now, removing and replacing objects got easier than ever and you can save time on your edits!
